Dental Nursing - Apprenticeship

The Dental Nursing Apprenticeship Programme is a training and education programme combining NVQ 2 and Key Skills Level 1 with real work experience leading to employment within a dental surgery.

The programme includes topics such as:

  • Cross infection control
  • Sterilisation and Disinfection
  • Micro-organisms
  • Oral health education
  • Dental procedures
  • Equality & diversity
  • Medical history, contra-indications, emergencies
  • Practical sessions on mixing materials, instruments and charting

Delivery

The programme will be delivered over a 12-14 month period and will include a full-time work placement or employment in a dental surgery. It will be a mix of real work experience and teaching and training sessions delivered by Alder Training's experienced and professional training managers and supported by your dentist.

Achievement

Upon successful completion of this programme you will achieve an Apprenticeship in Oral Healthcare and excellent work experience which will prepare you for employment and further progression in Dentistry and Dental Nursing. We will work with you to ensure you are employed in the sector and will prepare you for further progression in your career.

Opportunities

You will be able to progress into further learning opportunities such as Advanced Apprenticeship or Further Education and will be encouraged and supported to do so. There will also be exciting opportunities for progression into employment within the sector.
