What A Difference Training Makes!
Beckie is employed at a nursery and has a clear career goal. She has achieved her Apprenticeship in Early Years Care & Education and is now following an Advanced Apprenticeship in Children’s Care, Learning & Development.

In July 2005, Beckie was unemployed, lacked confidence and did not have any qualifications before starting with Alder Training. Becky is also a lone parent.
“I have had problems in my personal life which did not leave me with much time to concentrate on my training or give me much confidence. I am a single mother of a young child, which also takes up a lot of my time”.
With the troubles in her personal life taking priority, Beckie fell behind with her written work. Her Training Manager at Alder Training, Michelle Major, spoke with Beckie and her manager about extra tuition and support and arranged for Beckie to attend training sessions each week. This was a little frightening for her “as my confidence was very low, almost non-existent, I was nervous going into class. When I got there, everyone was really nice, which made me feel better. Slowly I gained confidence in myself and started to believe I could complete this Apprenticeship. When my Assessor told me I had completed units I felt so proud and it gave me confidence to carry on”.
Beckie achieved her Apprenticeship 12 months after starting the programme and is now employed in Sunshine Day Nursery, Liverpool. Beckie has seen what a difference the training has made to her life and has now progressed onto an Advanced Apprenticeship in Children’s Care, Learning & Development.
Her confidence and her aspirations are a lot higher now and Beckie is positive about the future “I will become a fully qualified nursery nurse”. Her Training Manager Michelle agrees and wishes her well “I wish Beckie all the luck for the future and great success. She deserves it”.
Beckie’s progress and achievements have not gone unnoticed. We have nominated her for Personal Achiever of the Year Award at the national Apprenticeship Awards 2007 which will take place in London later this year.
