Content

The Health & Social Care Apprenticeship is a training and education programme combining a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Level 2, Technical Certificate and Key Skills with real work experience leading to employment within nursing or residential care across Merseyside.

The programme offers learners the opportunity to work with adult clients across all age groups to provide basic nursing and social care. The training includes such topics as:
Supporting clients with eating and drinking and personal hygiene and grooming
Arranging activities and social events for clients
Working with clients with physical and mental disability, ill-health, degenerative conditions and pain
Developing effective communication to work with a wide range of clients
Delivery

The programme will be delivered over a 12 –14 month period and will include a work placement (full or part-time) or employment in a nursing or residential care setting. It will be a mixture of real work experience and teaching and training sessions delivered by Alder Training’s experienced and professional training managers and supported by workplace managers.
Achievement

Upon successful completion of this programme you will achieve an Apprenticeship in Health & Social Care which is a recognised qualification and a starting point for a career in nursing and residential care.
Opportunities

Following the achievement of the programme you will be able to progress onto further learning opportunities such as an Advanced Apprenticeship or Further Education and will be encouraged and supported to do so.

There will also be exciting opportunities for progression into employment within the sector.
